The 6 C’s of Communication

Be Clear
Brief sentences create a clear and defined picture of the point that you are trying to get across.  Long, drawn out sentence create a muddled picture. They leave the person you’re communicating with puzzled and unsure of what it is you’re trying to say or they only get part of what you’re trying to say and not the full content.

Be Concise
The longer you spend trying to explain something the less confident your message comes across.  At J.W. Business Acquisitions we have an acronym: “K.I.S.S.” which means Keep it Short and Simple.  Being concise also means that no ones time is wasted.  Your time is valuable and so is the person you’re talking to – so respect it.

Be Concrete
When your message is concrete the other person has a clear picture of what you’re telling them. Give someone details, but don’t go overboard; there are vivid facts so they have a laser like focus on the essence of the message.  Think about what is the most important part of your message!

Be Correct
Error-free communication means that your information is valid and your audience can understand it.  Especially in written communications in the field of business you do not want to have any grammatical errors or incorrect use of verbiage. By having correct forms of communication you increase your trustworthiness and the person you’re communicating with will take you seriously and feel that they are taken seriously.

Be Consistent
Consistency is key not only in communication, but with everything that you do in life.  If at any point you become inconsistent, then you lose credibility. By being consistent you create an air of trust and value.  At J.W.B.A. we believe that if you stay true to your values and have a strong character your communication and actions will always remain consistent!

Be Courteous
One of the easiest ways to be courteous is to treat people how you would like to be treated. If you expect someone to respond to an email or a text message in an hour then you also need to reciprocate that. It is also important to remember that sometimes people have bad days and you might not know what’s going on in their lives. Being courteous in those situations could actually turn their day around. This shows that you value your audience no matter the nature of the conversation.
